Turn Into Something.

Last night I saw Animal Collective perform at The Enmore Theater. It. Was. Amazing.

Animal Collective have always been one of my favourite bands...their music is so strange and different and more like a whole bunch of sounds placed together to sound absolutely magical and insane. It sounds even better live because it's just so loud! The sound just fills you and you automatically smile.

The set...

So they opened with 'Also Frightened' which is a song from their latest album 'Merriweather Post Pavillion'. They closed with my favourite song from their latest album 'Brother Sport' which was absolutely amazing! I was so proud because I guessed it was it before it actually went into the song, but yet wasn't positive at the time because I didn't want to get my hopes up...I was also extremely happy because they played 'Fireworks' which would probably be my favourite song from their album 'Strawberry Jam'.
They also played this amazing song, which I'm not sure if it is new or not but I only recently heard it called 'What Would I Want? Sky' which I can listen to over and over again I love it so much. That was definitely one of the best songs which they played. This is it here...the begining could be seen as repetitive however I see it more as hypnotic and just makes the second half even better =]

So there used to be four people in the band, but now there is only three. From left to right..

Geologist, Avey Tare, Panda Bear [who is also know as Noah Lennox, he did a song with Atlas Sound a while ago which I spoke about and I'm pretty sure he was the founder/main person of the band]

At their concert I wish they played more of their album's 'Strawberry Jam' and 'Feels' but I still love 'Merriweather Post Pavillion' so I can't complain. Their is a song on the album 'Feels' called 'Loch Raven' and it is the most soothing, mellow, calm and relaxing song I have ever come across. Myself and Sarah were imagining what would have happened if they played it, everyone would have fallen asleep it would have been amazing. So I wish they did, but oh well!
So yes, like all concerts I feel like watching them live again, but even though I can't I will definitely be seeing them again, as soon as possible.

This photo is on the inside of their latest CD. I absolutely love it and it describes them so well.

And finally, some lyrics. This was the second last song they played.

In The Flowers.

Met a dancer
Who was high in a field
From her movement
Caught my breath on my way home
Couldn't stop that spinning force
I felt in me
Everything around seemed to giggle glee
She walked up with a flower and I cared

Saw the dancer
Who gets wild to the beats of record rhythms
But I'm always away for weeks
That pass slow my
Mind gets lost
Feeling envy for the kid who'll dance despite anything
I walk out in the flowers and feel better
If I could just leave my body for the night:

Then we could be dancing
No more missing you while I'm gone
There we could be dancing
And you'd smile and say, "I like this song"
And when our eyes will meet there
We will recognize nothing's wrong
And I wouldn't feel so selfish
I won't be this way very long

To hold you in time
To hold you in time
To hold you in time
To hold you in time

While we were dancing
Early hours
Drunken days finally ended
And the streets turned for a pillowcase
Then I fumbled our good lock
Then the ecstasy turns to rising light
Through our windowpane
Now I'm gone
I left flowers for you there
